After a week’s break following the Evian Championship, the LPGA remained in Europe for two more weeks, starting with the ISPS Handa Women’s Scottish Open and ending next week with the AIG Women’s British Open.
Jenny Shin claimed her second LPGA title but first in more than a decade, holding on with a shaky final-round score of 75 that was good enough to edge out A Lim Kim by two shots. The 33-year-old from South Korea last won the Volunteers of America’s Texas Shootout in 2016. For this win at the Scottish Open, she collected $300,000 out of the total prize money of $2 million. World No. 1 Nelly Korda finished in 19th place. Defending champion Lottie Woad finished tied for 37th place.
Shin first burst onto the golf stage 20 years ago when she won the US Girls Junior at just 13 years old. Four years later, she turned pro, won the Futures Tour and earned an LPGA card, where she has now been for 15 years.
Next up are the Women’s British Open at Royal Lytham and St. Annes in England. The Solheim Cup takes place in the Netherlands in early September, meaning the week is crucial in the race for automatic selection for both the U.S. and European teams.
