Hyundai is recalling more than 96,000 Tucson models due to a software issue that can cause the instrument panel display to intermittently go dark, posing a safety risk.
The The recall has been initiated on June 24, as reported by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
The 2025 and 2026 Tucson models are affected, including 39,605 gasoline, 53,886 hybrid and 2,819 plug-in hybrid vehicles. The problem is due to a software error that disrupts communication between the instrument cluster and the head-up display, causing both systems to reset and leaving the dashboard temporarily blank.
Hyundai’s recall notice states: “A dashboard display that does not display important safety information such as a speedometer or warning lights increases the risk of an accident.”
Fortunately, no accidents or injuries have been reported related to this issue.
Hyundai provides a free software update and reimburses any out-of-pocket repairs
Hyundai assures that no new parts are required to fix the problem. Instead, dealers update the instrument cluster software to ensure that only the head-up display is reset, not the entire dashboard.
According to the Hyundai recall, vehicle owners will begin receiving notification letters in August with details on how to schedule a free repair at their local Hyundai dealer.
In addition, vehicles are associated with Hyundai Bluelink The update may be available over-the-air, eliminating the need to visit the retailer. Hyundai has also committed to refunding owners who have already paid for repairs as long as they follow the company’s policies.

Hyundai says it has not received any reports of injuries related to the recall. The company is not currently facing any legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions tracks recalls closely because they sometimes lead to class action lawsuits.
